A rumbling day
Well so now I return to my blog after a week or two spent in warmer climes... I didnt come back with a tan (too much of that stuff produced by melanocytes - melanin) but I came back with a bunch of memories... of a night club whose name quite aptly is translated as black angel... Not as good as F2 when it comes to the feeling of sin in the air but better music, great crowd, great nights.....
Its been a week back in Nairobi and its still the same old Nairobi. Maybe with longer lines for matatus now that some crack down is supposed to be going on. I compare the police force here to others which "protect and serve" and they come up a little short. Why announce one morning that you are cracking down on unlicensed vehicles... starting today? It makes more sense to announce that in a weeks time, you are cracking down on these vehicles. Of course chances are, the matatu owners will play cat and mouse and not pay for the road license but THEN no one can blame the cops.... Can they? Right now they get a lot of the blame and rightly so....
Today I MC'd at some function. Given all of 2 hours notice.... It was quite rightly, a disaster. I mean how was I to know what jokes would work with a crowd I had no idea about? Eish this job...
Nairobi on a weekend: I walked around Nairobi on a Saturday for the first time this past weekend... wow!!!!! I see what I have been missing by avoiding the center of town.... First I get into burgerdome and there is this dude sending a mail to bbwafrica whom I just happen to remember (as an expert on personals and such websites) is looking for adult friends and hopes to find (hint hint).... Then I get into the Nando opposite Hilton and get me an empty table... next thing I know I have these 3 sweet lil things asking if the seats are free (d'oh... they are soo free!!!) and we chit chat about this and that... I would have gotten some numbers but... I am cutting down on these things... not building up!
My beste leaves tonight for the UK.... 3 years of studying in some obscure lil town... I will miss her... Yes, even not withstanding her telling me about a boyfriend in the US at our farewell meeting... After years of friendship... Gal u could have mentioned this earlier...
The sun has gone to sleep and so must I....
